Atlanta SBS Group Shows Response Point w/ Cbeyone and Syspine

May 19, 2008 – 10:43 am

FYI to anybody within reach of Atlanta or with SBSer friends in Atlanta.  Rick Butler has pulled together a great event on Response Point including bringing in one of the new VoIP providors that Microsoft will be utilizing for SIP trunking in SP1.  Here is the announcement:

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 June, from 4:30PM to 7:00PM.  It will be held at the office of The Net Doctor, co-located within the offices of Stone Age Designs.  Their office is located at

1990 Defoor Avenue, Atlanta, GA

. The June meeting will feature a single topic: Voice Over IP (VOIP).  We are honored by having two very special vendors as a part of our program – Cbeyond, a local VOIP service provider, and CMP/Syspine, one of the three OEMs (original equipment manufacturer) for the Microsoft Response Point system. Please join us for this exciting event!  Please register by accessing our “Click To Attend” page: The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  • Telco 101: ATLSBS Group founder Rick Butler, along with member Bob Anderson, will do a short presentation on the basics of Telephony.  While members may be well versed within the world of server/workstation management, LAN’s, and Internet access, some may lack the fundamentals when it comes to Telephony.  Their introduction will include many devices and tools used within the world of telephony.

  • VOIP Service Provider Cbeyond: based right here in Atlanta, Cbeyond will have two speakers: Melanie Eakin is the local Channel Manager for Atlanta and has been with Cbeyond for 6 years.  Greg Rothman is the SIPconnect Development Director and has been with Cbeyond for 4 years.  We will learn about the company, its reseller program, as well as its technology.  Cbeyond delivers to small business customers (an entrepreneurial class of customer with 4-200 employees - generally using 4-48 phone lines) an integrated package of high quality local and long distance telephony services, high-speed, T-1 Internet access and Internet-based applications for about the same price that small businesses typically pay for local and long distance phone service alone.  Cbeyond is a publicly traded, Atlanta-based company (Nasdaq: CBEY) and the world’s first 100% Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) local phone network. Cbeyond serves customers in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Denver and Los Angeles, San Diego, Detroit, San Francisco, Minneapolis, and

  • Thanks to the generosity of CMP/Syspine, the June meeting will feature free refreshments and food!  Enjoy your choice of beverage and pick among a variety of finger foods and sandwiches we will have available.

  • Our representative from CMP/Syspine will be Jerry Moore.  CMP/Sypine is one of the three OEM’s that manufacture the Microsoft Response Point system.  Call Management Products, Inc. (CMP) has been distributing quality telecommunications products to U.S.-based interconnect and data communications resellers since 1988. CMP is a small, private company with a focused specialty. Because of our dedication to this business, they were selected by Quanta Computer, Inc. as their primary distribution partner for the introduction of Syspine into the U.S. market. Jerry Moore is the sales team lead for CMP.  He has been involved in the development of the Syspine product in the

US since July, 2007.  Past experiences include 25 years as the owner of a

Colorado based Interconnect company selling and installing phone systems to small business.  Also was project manager for a hosted VoIP phone service based on the Broadsoft platform and was operations manager for a Microsoft Gold/Mitel partner in

Denver before coming to CMP.  His charge with CMP has been to create a channel of VAR’s to sell and support the Syspine product in the

US.  Jerry know the Respone Point product inside and out, so be sure to challenge him with any questions you may have on the product!

As usual, at the conclusion of our meeting, we will have a drawing for prizes.  Be sure to bring plenty of business cards so that you can A) participate in the drawing, and B) network with your IT peers.

Upcoming ATLSBS Group Meeting Date:

25 June: our July meeting will be bumped up one week so we can avoid the holiday week.  Please make a note of this!  Same place and starting time, however.  More details in the June newsletter.  If you have any questions, please contact us at or view our web site at  Thanks! ATLSBS
