Microsoft Customer Support Call Back Program Expands

October 3, 2008 – 5:38 am

So for those of you were in  fret about Microsoft’s change to a call back support model let’s hope misery truly loves company because rumor has it that this will be the support method for all Microsoft platforms.  While many have raised valid concerns over the plans for to have SBSers sitting by the phone waiting for a call back from the other side of the planet, I think the expansion of this model to all OS’s will be a good thing for them (SBSers).  Good because if it fails for one it will probably fail for all putting pressure on the Softies to get this right.  (I’m rooting for you Maria, AKA Mom.)While SMB is diverse in nature the key to supporting multiple SMB sites/customers effectively is standardization and optimization of process.  Microsoft apparently believes the call back method of reaching support is a step in that direction.  Let’s hope so or keep Eriq Neale’s phone number handy.  ;-)

  2. mark,

Thanks for the heads-up. I hadn’t seen that info yet. It COULD be a good change, and I’m willing to hope for the best.

I’m glad to see that Eriq Neale has an SBS 2008 book coming out soon. I’m looking for a great author to read on it. http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Small-Business-Server-Unleashed/dp/0672329573
