Dell’s MSP Partner Plans
April 3, 2008 – 8:53 amAfter my recent post about Dell apologizing to VARs I received a comment from Joe Panettieri (of MSPmentor) linking me back to this very informative blog about a recent letter from Dell to MSPs. Joe’s blog and the letter are worth a read. Thanks Joe!

No need to thank me. Definitely interested in your thoughts on Dell. Do you think they’re sincere? Or are they just paying partners lip service? Full disclosure: I believe Dell is committed to the channel because the company needs to lift sales and the company’s stock price. But that’s just one guy’s opinion.

Hi Joe, I believe that DELL is sincere about building the channel (well at least in Canada) that is my only exposure.
I had an opportunity to meet with Kevin Peesker last October well DELL Canada invited me to their launch of the Vostro line in Canada, they are totally committed to the channel because they do not have the manpower to reach all the SMB’s in Canada and I would assume the same can be said in the US.
I had the opportunity to interview Kevin on my Small Business IT Radio program back in January, you can find the show here - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/smb/2008/01/11/Inside-the-DELL-PartnerDirect-Program-and-Small-Business
Once again, partners need to embrace this and just like Erick Simpson says, figure out a way to leverage the 800 lb gorilla instead of fighting it.
DELL has been one of our best partnerships, we have sold over $5M in DELL in IT Matters seven years of being in business. So can you if you learn to embrace their marketing and sales engine, at least they have one…just check out some of the buzz around the lack of marketing coming out of Redmond these days.
Just my random thoughts….
